Konyaalti

KONYAALTI TRANSFER

Located in the west of Antalya, Konyaalti is a district that attracts attention with its natural beauties, cultural richness and modern living spaces. Konyaalti, which is on the coast of the clear waters of the Mediterranean, is an attractive destination for both domestic and foreign tourists.

Geographical and Natural Features
Konyaalti has an area of 546 km2 and is home to a population of approximately 204,795 people as of 2022. The district takes its name from the expression “Konyaalti”, which means “under the cliffs”, and this name reflects the geographical structure of the region surrounded by cliffs. Konyaalti Beach is 13 km long and is famous for its gravel and sand mixture coast. Its location at the foot of Beydağları offers a unique view to the beach.

Coastal Promenade and Public Spaces
Konyaalti Coastal Promenade is one of the most important public spaces of the region. In a study, it was determined that this promenade is a generally successful public space in terms of criteria such as access, variety of activities, comfort, image and socialization. However, deficiencies have been identified in some sub-components such as public transport access, bicycle paths, canopy areas and landscaping equipment.

Blue Infrastructure and Environmental Sustainability
In an assessment made on the blue infrastructure status of Konyaalti, it was stated that natural water resources such as coasts, streams and wetlands are being damaged due to urbanization. In particular, the concretization of river beds and the increase of impermeable surfaces increase the flood risk. Therefore, it is proposed to protect the natural drainage lines and develop green infrastructure elements.
